Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your first appointment. For subsequent appointments please arrive on time to maximize our time together. If you are early, please knock and you are welcome to take a seat on the seat outside the yoga room.
Please allow up to 45 minutes for your appointment.
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring any imaging or test results that are related to your visit. Referral from your GP is not required, however if you have a referral letter please bring it with you.
If you have had an accident we can lodge a new ACC claim for you. If you have an existing claim, please bring any details you may have. If you don’t know your claim number that’s ok, the date of the injury will be helpful.
WHAT TO WEAR
It is important to us that you feel comfortable during your treatment. As osteopaths we diagnose and treat with our hands and treatment is often more effective if we can see and move the area of your body that we need to work on. This may mean that we ask you to change to your underwear (if you’re comfortable doing so). It is helpful to wear or bring loose clothing to change into as a lot of treatment can be done in comfortable clothing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A consultation will typically involve taking a history of your complaint and any relevant medical history. You may be asked to perform some movements or your practitioner may examine your body to assess the cause of your complaint and help formulate a plan for treatment. Treatment may include massage, stretching, myofascial release, joint articulation or mobilisation or other techniques that osteopaths specialise in such as muscle energy technique, balanced ligamentous tension or cranial osteopathy. Lifestyle advice and exercises for you to complete at home are usually included as this helps to extend the benefits of treatment and improve your recovery rate.
